View Full Version : The Seattle Mariners have been Ridiculously Good So Far

Basically, they have been another team this spring training. It's spring training and a lot of it doesn't matter, but some of these things can carry over.

I took a look at it a little in-depth:

I'm just glad to see us scoring multiple runs a game. Our young hitters are looking good, that is for sure. They just need to take this mentality into the regular season and act like it's spring training all over again. There won't be much pressure on the team this year, so maybe that plays into our favor.

I was going to post something like this today! There really appears to be a lot of "POP" in the team so far. Granted, it's super early, games mean nothing more than scouting talent, but it's great to see the team producing every night! Seeing these young guys coming out and putting the wood down is very encouraging. Of course, it's cautious optimism, but I'll take it!

Means nothing to me. They're playing in a hitter's park which will be the complete opposite when they get to Safeco. Let's see them carry it over into the season.

It's never bad to hit and produce, but I count this toward nothing. I learn long ago to completely ignore ST stats unless there is a position at stake.

You wanna know who was ridiculously good last night?

Our young pitching - Ramirez, Hultzen, Walker and Paxton = domination of an MLB caliber lineup in the D-Backs.

Well, I pay a lot of attention to spring training since I'm not really a huge fan of basketball (especially since the sonics left) and it's the only sports fix I can get in the month of March! I really hate the time between the Super Bowl and the start of baseball season.

Anyways, It's never a bad thing when we're kicking some butt during spring training, but I wouldn't predict the outcome of the season with the results. More often than not, we are facing the opponent's rookie pitchers while they rest their starters (like we really haven't seen a lot from felix this spring so far).

Though paying attention to Mr. Jesus Montero, he's been pretty impressive from what I've seen of him so far.

But I'm not really gonna have our good spring record get my hopes up for the regular season, I learned a couple years ago that it's not a good idea to "believe big".

The best thing of the spring so far is that Michael Saunders is swinging a hot bat. Two hits today and now has his average up to .412 as of this post.

I hope that Saunders can get his groove, I always like comeback situations that aren't Josh Hamilton.

Plus, we'll need him in CF for a bit! It's really good to see some positive stuff out of the M's... I know, even if it's spring training. You gotta admit, it's nice to see, however little it really means!
