View Full Version : Will Figgy have a bounceback year?

He's been putting up some better at bats this spring, working the count and getting on base. I'd consider a .260 average with a .330 OBP a bounceback year based on where's he been lately. What do you guys think that now he's back in his comfort zone at leadoff?

My prediction: he will hit under the mendoza line and be cut by the end of May.

Comfort zone or not, Figgins is just hitting .214 right now in spring ball, though he is getting on base at a good rate.

I don't care for the guy at all. I'm still convinced he doesn't give a crap when he's out there. Just watch him play...he shows no emotion. Either way, I see no way he makes it past the trade deadline with Seattle. If he does better than expected, we trade him and get whatever we can in return. If he continues his usual ineptness, then he is likely released. It's a win-win situation for the M's just sticking him at the top and seeing what happens in a year where they aren't going to accomplish much of anything in the standings.

No he is TERRIBLE and I'm convinced he's still working for the Angels.

It's kinda hard to not have a bounceback year of some sorts when you hit .188

I'm with Mariners51. I think he's out by May and we get the Seagar/Liddi position share that we should be seeing right now.

He'd need to do more than just bounceback to justify keeping him, with Seager, Liddi, Vinnie the Cat, and even Francisco Martinez in the pipeline. I just don't see him making it out of the month of May with the team.

If I'm Kyle Seager, I'd be so pissed off. Figgins hits .214 in spring and Seager just tears the cover off the ball with 3 dingers and a .350 clip. Then you have Liddi with a .500 OPB and an OPS of 1.214. It's so fitting that our two best producers in spring are Figgins "backups."

I really don't understand the commitment to this guy. I get that you're trying to salvage a bad investment, but sometimes the best way to do that is to just cut bait and move on.

Is this thread serious?

I have a better chance of banging Kate Upton than Figgins does of having a 'bounceback year'

I was planning on jumping in this thread to compare Chone Figgins' face to cowboy marionette Howdy Doody, but uh... boobs ftw!
