Pegs just hit his team leading 5th homer of the spring. Wells has two hits today, but at the same time, has had a rather horrendous spring.
Wedge seems to like Peguero for some reason and the fact he started Figgins in left over Wells in that second Japan game shows he doesn't have much faith in him.

Casper Wells for sure. All the USSM folks would go nuts if its Peguero, and I don't want to see the riot on Edgar Martinez Drive.

Peguero probably earned himself the last player spot because of yesterday's performance. I watch the game and was extremely impressed with his plate discipline and shortened swing. He layed off a lot of breaking balls just off the plate and shortened up his swing a few times and drove a base hit the other way and up the middle with two strikes on him. Those were more impressive than the bomb he hit; we all know he can do that.
But I still believe it was just a flash in the pan. He'll go back to hacking like a little kid once he steps foot in a real Major League game. I guarantee it.
But both Wells and Peggie will be on the squad. Liddi will be sent down along with one of the lefty pitchers.

I'm in the minority here but I think it's worth seeing what we have in Pegeuro another time. I don't have to tell any of you this, but if he could ever put it together he would be a force. With that said, if he looks the same as the Pegeuro of last year then bring Wells up.

Peguero will look the same as he's always been when he goes against a pitcher that can locate a breaking ball consistently.

If I have to watch Peguero make one more pathetic attempt to crush an 0-2 change in the dirt off the hit it here cafe, I'm going to plot an attack on Safeco Field (kidding, obviously.)
Seriously, though. That guys approach to hitting makes me want to decapitate babies.
