Damn, it feels good to be home. Even though I'm nowhere near Seattle, and I've been home this entire time. But I think you guys know what I'm getting at here...
Friday, April 13 - 7:10 p.m. PT: Oakland RHP Bartolo Colon (1-1, 5.84 ERA) vs. Seattle RHP Felix Hernandez (1-0, 4.40 ERA)
Saturday, April 14 - 6:10 p.m. PT: Oakland LHP Tommy Milone (1-0, 0.00 ERA) vs. Seattle RHP Hector Noesi (0-1, 21.00 ERA)
Sunday, April 15 - 1:10 p.m. PT: Oakland TBA vs. Seattle RHP Blake Beavan (0-1, 1.42 ERA)

A couple of things:
- I'm so sick of seeing Bartolo Colon on my TV screen. Three times in nine games (that's one-third of the time) is way too much to see that fat ass pitcher.
- I am not sick of seeing King Felix. Pumped about the sellout mixed with the King's Court tomorrow night.
- If Noesi can't lower his ERA following Saturday's start, he never needs to pitch in another game again.
- I hope Brandon McCarthy doesn't pop up in that last TBA slot on Sunday for Oakland
- This is a series Seattle SHOULD win. Notice I CAPPED, bolded and italicized should.

Noesi was all over the place but i did like what i saw from him stuff wise he shouldn't be that wild against the Athletic's and if he is it is time for a change.

Coming out of the opening road trip with a .500 is nice, let's make some noise up in Safeco!

With Luetge emerging as the better Loogy his time is probably going to be short the way he has pitched.

Very similar

I cracked up at Sherrill's ERA. That's hilarious.
I'm going to be at tonight's game and tomorrow's game. We will win both because I will eat a hot dog at each game (inside joke).

While taking a shower, it dawned on me that Felix Hernandez is going to dominate the A's tonight. In fact, he will throw a no-hitter.
Yeah, I said it. Watch and see.

This game has really been a drag. All the people that went just for opening day surely won't be back anytime soon.

This game just straight pisses me off. I wait all day for the home opener and we have Colon (who we just rocked) against Felix. There's no way in hell Seattle should lose this game. Instead, the M's go out, lay an egg and play like they don't give a fuck. Fuck you, Mariners.
Igoe4Mariners
04-13-2012, 09:42 PM
And I never want to see Miguel Olivo in a Mariners' uniform again. Fuck him.

Oh yeah, and Chone Figgins too.

Three-hit shutout by the shitty ass A's and washed up 40 year old Bartolo Colon. FUCK YOU, MARINERS! I am not watching tomorrow after wasting three hours of my life on that garbage.

That was a really bad showing for opening night, just like last year. Man, all the good I saw just got washed down the drain with that game.

I am not usually one to complain about umpires especially if there giving both sides the same strike zone but no way were those strikes that the umpire called Saunder's out on twice.
Mariners51
04-14-2012, 08:45 AM
The umpire was extremely inconsistent, but still inexcusable we couldn't touch Colon.
Felix = Cy Young
04-14-2012, 08:56 AM
Last night sucked ass
clarknova
04-14-2012, 11:46 AM
The biggest problem for me last night was the shitty hitting. It's just one game, but it sucked to watch. Saunders looked terrible. I'm going again tonight, and I WILL NOT be eating a hotdog, because I think it's clear that the magic is gone.
It was actually technically better than last year which Joseph will remember rendered me to the point of senselessly screaming belligerent slander from the Hit It Here Cafe. I ended up sitting next to a couple Indians fans last night who were at the home opener last year. Also, for those that have experienced an overall lack of quality service at Safeco, last night was near bedlam. It was a sell out. The computers went down. No ATM, no Debit or Credit cards at the stands. People were PISSED. I was in a half hour long line for my hot dog when a girl behind the counter announced "Attention everyone, we are OUT OF BEER!" That did not go over well for the folks in the front of the line that had just stood there for half an hour, missed an entire inning, and were now denied their escape from the crappiness of the team. Overall, the fans were pretty bummed out. Everywhere.
I was just hoping to see a winner on opening day for once. Or, maybe a run?
Good Things:
-Montero is getting hits and getting on base.
-Felix got out of a pretty bad jam and touched 93 mph lat night.
-Regardless of outcome (double play), Chone Figgins does look better at the plate.
-Miguel Olivo took some pitches last night.
Bad Things (I know it's early):
-Miguel Olivo's defense, Miguel Olivo's contact rate, everything else about him.
-Felix is still getting an extremely high number of balls hit into the air, for him.
-Montero has shown very little pop, and where as he is getting some nice line drive hits, very little power. He's like the anti-Cespedes so far. It'll come, I'm not being impatient, I'm just saying we could use a couple x-base hits from the DH. He has a lot of room to grow though, he's 22. I see some good things (except the running... He makes me laugh, he makes Smoak look like Usain Bolt)
-Smoak looks like second half 2011 Smoak (long, slow swing), and I think a lot of people are beginning to wonder if his first half was an anomaly.
-Chone Figgins is the worst defensive left fielder not named Raul Ibanez.
-Brendan Ryan flashed some offense early in the year, was benched for "accountability" reasons, and for the last few games has looked completely lost at the plate. Bad ABs.
I know it's early, these are disgruntled impressions from the negativity hang over from the excitement and disappointment of last night. I still like Kyle Seager more this year. I'm still excited and will probably go to more games this year than any other before.

How do you run out of beer and have the machines break the ONE time it will be a sellout crowd all year? Way to be smart, mariners franchise.

Real good bounce back win tonight by the M's. Noesi was much better on the mound... looked a lot more calm and collected.
I love Montero, but he seriously needs to work on his running the bases/home run trot. He runs, like, so weird.
clarknova
04-14-2012, 09:24 PM
Well, that game had an entirely different feel to it.
Got my first foul ball tonight. It bounced twice and I had to battle an A's fan for it who actually tried to grab it out of my hand. Had my phone in my other hand that I had to use to block his hand.
Noesi looked great. Montero looked great (except for his hilarious running, which Jeff from lookoutlanding.com put the best IMO:"Jesus Montero runs like he's trying not to wake someone in the next room.").
It was a fun game, so I'm just focused on the positives right now. Win. Shutout. Baseball. Sunshine. Sweet.

Wait, you got to go to 2 games in a row??
clarknova
04-14-2012, 09:46 PM
Yeah. Didn't have anything else to do this weekend and got a great deal on some 100 level seats for tonight's game so... Yeah, two in a row. Got to see Montero's first M's homer. Fun stuff. I plan on going a lot this year. Still planning on going to see every team at Safeco including NL teams so I plan on checking the Dodgers and Giants off. Also like to catch the first home starts for any of the big three called up later in the season.

Pretty lousy game on Friday, but luckily we managed to edge them out in the next two games to take the series.
And i don't know about the rest of you, but I hope to see Jesus Montero do his little girly jog around the bases more often!
Let's go take those damn Indians!
