First seen on twitter as reported by Jason Churchill who also had this to say about it:
Word is, the tear is fairly severe. If that is the case, he's done. Be surprised if he is ever anything more than a back-end guy.
Wow. This is bad for Pineda and the Yankees. The dreaded torn labrum. Very few pitchers ever fully recover from this (Bedard).

Wow, I feel awful saying this because I really liked the kid and have nothing against him personally, but I genuinely hope he fails as long he's in the Yankees.

Shouldn't happen to such a great kid at a young age. Tough.

Meanwhile, Yankee fans spazzing out thinking that Seattle knew about this when they traded him.
Idiots (http://www.forums.mlb.com/n/pfx/forum.aspx?tsn=1&nav=messages&webtag=ml-yankees&tid=492237)

yankees fans are in my opinion, some of the worst representations of true "fans". Most of them would leave if they didn't make it to the world series every other year. If you want to see good fans, check out Twins, Pirates, Royals, Mariners, and Indians fans.

Just have to give props once again to Jack Z for pulling off the Montero deal. After what I saw in the second half of last year and how people started figuring him out when they saw him the second or third time, I didn't blink twice when I heard they traded Pineda for one of the better hitting prospects of the last decade.
Feel bad for Pineda, but it seems like some of this was on him. Didn't come in shake and in poor condition.
Ah well, just means we screwed the Yankees. Win.

My thoughts exactly good sir. I also enjoy that Yankees tans think we intentionally screwed them. This is great (sorry Pineda).

So basically Jack Z turned a half a year of an unsignable Cliff Lee, Mark Lowe and a pitcher who immediatly needs season ending and career threatening surgery into:
Jesus Montero
Hector Noesi
Justin Smoak
John Jaso (via Josh Lueke)
Blake Beavan
Also, Matthew Lawson who they traded for Aaron Laffey which, whatever. Lawson retired and Laffey is mediocre.

Pineda was shelved at the last part of last season due to the fact that they were trying to rest him due to shoulder and elbow issues that popped up when he was playing in the minors.
It's not our fault they didn't figure that one out prior to sending off Montero to us, if I could of guessed this would happen, there's no reason why Cashman couldn't.
