Somebody started one of these threads on my board, and it's taken off.
It's a very simple thread idea for the board:
What are you listening to? Post up a music video or just name what you're listening to. Feel free to comment on others' choice of music.

I considered putting up some youtube videos of the concert I went to last friday, but I couldn't find anything that I thought wouldn't be offensive to some. That makes it sound much more nefarious than it was, but suffice to say I listen to some "scary" music. The concert I went to was headlined by a Polish band called Behemoth, but I was actually there to see a Swedish band called Watain. Never heard of them? Not surprising. You would hate them, trust me.
In my car, I'm currently listening to a new CD out by a band made up of some old friends of mine. Here's a taste (I was at this show):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0kAwcPw5Zfs
Yeah? Did you like that? Didn't think so! Their new CD is AWESOME... Well, IMO.
Before I had that CD in, I was listening to Moving Pictures by Canadian prog rock icons Rush:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ANiaZvdGO8U
I collect vinyl as well, here are some cuts from the three records I picked up last weekend and that I have been playing on the Technics 1200s that are set up next to my computer desk:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7iTiVXNnD8
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8FjCWr6Z7xU
Oh, and I've been listened to this song like 20 time in the last two weeks. I don't know why, but I love it:

I'm in two bands and live in a house with three other musicians. There are literally more than 30,000 vinyl records and 5 record players set up in my house. I listen to a LOT of stuff. I may go see crazy scary heavy metal bands, but last year I also went and saw Air Supply at the Emerald Queen Casino. I paid for the ticket with my own money. On purpose. I freaking love Air Supply.
You're right Igoe, this is kinda fun. Music is my non-sports passion.

I really like the Chili Peppers' older stuff. Everything up through Blood Sugar Sex Magic. I think my favorites are probably Mother's Milk, Freaky Styley, and the Uplift Mofo Party Plan- In that order.

Yeah, I like all of it. The jazz/funky/jam style they had back then was awesome. They've since transitioned to a more modern style, which still mixes with the funk rock at times. Love it.
They lost their lead guitar (Frusciante) a few years ago, and they're almost not the same now, but their bassist (Flea) is freakin' ridiculous. All around, they are still awesome and know how to jam out.

Rush - Tom Sawyer - before I was born, but a classic.
Converge - Wretched World - Not bad at all. Pretty awesome.
Ozzy = the shit.
Regarding the heavy metal stuff, I wouldn't say that I'm a HUGE fan of it, but it's alright. I wouldn't go around listening to it in my car, but I do think it's awesome to go to a concert and head bang with thousands of other people even though you can't understand a word the singer is saying.
I saw Mayhem Festival in 2011 which consisted of In Flames, Straight Line Stitch, All Shall Perish, Red Fang, Suicide Silence, Kingdom of Sorrow and more on the side stages. The main stage featuered Trivium (incredibly underrated band), Machinehead, Megadeath, Godsmack and Disturbed. Disturbed is one of favorite bands and was one of the main reasons I went, but the whole day was awesome.
For the main stage, we were in standing room only right on the front row just in front of the stage. IT WAS SICK! I got a guitar pick from the Megadeath lead guitarist as well.

No, I hadn't actually heard that Joseph, but I LIKE it! Also dig the Lost Gonzo Band, a lot. Very cool.
Igoe- Have not checked Megadeth off the list yet, that's rad that you got a guitar pick!

Did you ask them for the pick after the concert, or did it just come flying toward you?
Not usually big into rap, but I have a handful of favorites.

Yeah, I think once you told me you were mostly into country. For some reason I imagined like Alan Jackson and Clint Black. I did not picture you listening to Army of the Pharaohs. That's awesome though!
I love hip hop, but only very specific hip hop. I love old school stuff- Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Treacherous Three, Whodini, RUN DMC, Sugar Hill Gang, Newcleus... I'm actually in several "fake" hip hop groups and have multiple "fake" hip hop personas.
Here are some of my favorite newer hip hop tracks:

That Cage the Elephant video is just awesome. Not a huge indie rock guy, but I know they're good song writers and I love a decent video because there are so few of them. Like Radiohead- I like maybe 2 or 3 of their songs total, but one of their videos is my all time favorite.
Velvet Revolver is cool. They're a guilty pleasure of mine. I was a HUGE Guns N' Roses fan, that was my first "big" concert when I was 11 years old. I saw them and Skid Row. I just finished Duff McKagan's book last week. He's a big Seattle Mariners fan (he's from Seattle) and talks about watching their games in his book. He does radio spots on local sports radio all the time and has a semi-regular column on ESPN.com.

Totally digg this. What genre is this classified as? I hear everything in here. Reminds me of smooth jazz, boy do I miss 98.9.
Speaking of Cage the Elephant,

How about a little Atmosphere from the twin cities? they're Macklemore of the twin cities.

And for something completely different....
This should be a youtube masterpiece. Here's my favorite artist (Willie Nelson) before he got into drugs in the 1960's... You can't even recognize him.

The Black Keys are a new band I've been getting into. I like their classic sound mixed with some new stuff. A very underrated band IMO. They make the best music videos too.
This one's kind of your regular music video.

This black dude literally just dances by himself the entire song, "Lonely Boy." It's more hilarious every time I watch it.

Listening to this gem while watching the M's take on the Rox. The vocalist used to play in a band called Scar Symmetry, which is a band I like very much.
And a little fun fact about myself, I'm a guitarist and I do have my own band, we just got our facebook page, if ya'll would like to check us out!

Woah! The Wizard's Sleeve is awesome. Nice to see another band putting out 6+ minute epics. I particularly enjoyed the fact that there are like 6 different genres of metal in one song. Sounds like our bands have similar subject matter as well. I LOVE the old school feel. Reminds me a lot of bands like Manilla Road and Witchcross. Nicely done HGKnights. Hope the show at Hell's Kitchen went well. My old band played there once for a SeattleMetalOnline showcase, it's a pretty nice venue.

Our show at Hells Kitchen actually hasn't happened yet, it's scheduled for the 20th of July.
I do love that venue, I'm a frequent customer of that joint, the only good venue in Tacoma IMO.
They did move recently, did your band play at the 6th Ave venue or the new one on Pacific Ave?

Don't know if you guys have heard of Trivium or not, but IMO, they are one of the most underrated metal bands out there. Saw them in concert with Disturbed, Godsmack and Megadeath and they put on just as good a show as those three groups live.
This video is bad ass by the way (along with the music).

Sorry! I just saw this. I hope you have a good show! I guess I can't read.
I must have been at the other location, 6th Ave I guess. It would have been in like 2002, or 2003. I don't remember that show very well.... Let's just say I've made some lifestyle changes since then... I remember having to run up the street because I needed to use a toilet in a "can't use the single stall in a dive bar for this" kind of way, so I ran to a Wallgreen's up the street and made it back just in time to play.
I just started a new band last week with my roommate. Experimental metal. Had our first jam session this week. Just a two piece for now, all we have is a name and a vision!

That's the old one on 6th Ave, since they moved to Pac Ave around 2010, and there is a walgreens right next to where it used to be, which is just a closed down nightclub (I went there once when it was open, A pretty chick went up to me and asked me to dance, some dude came up and grabbed her from me. Being the guy I am, I tried to grab her back, and the guy gets in my face telling to back off his wife hahaha).
I have a lot more stories about Hells Kitchen, but I'd probably fill a whole novel telling all of them haha
Let me know if you get some recordings or shows down in my part of town if you get it going man!
(also, New recordings are up for my band!)
