File this one away under "reason to worry". Franklin Gutierrez has an issue with the plantar fascia in his heel. That's the thick tissue you have lining the heel bone and when it becomes inflamed, they call it "plantar fasciitis" and players and coaches all go "Oh, #$@!!$!''

That's because this is one of those lingering problems you don't want cropping up in an athlete whose biggest assets happen to involve the legs. If you've ever seen Gutierrez run after balls, you know what I'm talking about.

Guy can't seem to catch a break.

Saunders, meanwhile, is taking full advantage.

Starting to think Guti may be done as a baseball player.

Sad for Guti, but at the same time I hope Saunders can take advantage of this because his possible upside is through the roof. As great as Guti is in center field, he's a decent bat at best.

Really a shame how Guti's career has nosedived. Such a promising talent.

At this point, the team needs a good bat and average fielding more than a average bat and good fielding. Guti would have faced tough competition from Carp and maybe even Wells if Saunders wasn't providing a clutch bat. I think this might be the end of the line for the young man.

It's a shame cuz Guti really showed a lot of promise that season he kicked ass in the OF and hit .280 with like 18 HRs. He looked like he was going to become an elite CF for us...then he just couldn't stay healthy after we signed him to that extension.
