Haven't done much digging into Blake Beavan, so I'll pick your guy's brains.

I know the basics, not a strikeout pitcher etc. But what's the expectation of this guy? Is he suppose to pan out to be a good 3rd, or 4th pitcher? If so, why was he taken 1st round, 17th if he doesn't have ace potential? I know he was a highschool draft and many times they are a gamble. But what should I expect from him in a couple years? Will he be serving us Big Macs at the Sodo McDonalds, or striking out Albert Pujols in every at-bat?

When Texas picked him in the first round he apparently had a fastball in the high 90's, but one of his minor league coaches noticed some danger in his mechanics so I guess they switched it to help him be good long term, but it also caused him to lose some velocity. I can't say for sure, but a comparison I've heard a fair amount is Doug Fister, not an ace but a guy that will fit pretty well into about any rotation, throw a lot of strikes, etc. It would be great to get some good production out him for a while since Smoak has been such a big disappointment (both acquired in the Lee trade).

Let's teach him the bedard twist like Felix and Vargas. Maybe he'll turn into a staff ace.
