I'm not sure how much longer Wedge can justify using Ryan as anything other than a defensive replacement late in games. Ryan is batting a putrid .140 and just looks like a friggin idiot at the plate. Wedge's patience seems to be running thin and I don't see it lasting beyond a few more weeks.

The question is, when that happens, do you call up Triunfel, who is having a decent year in AAA? Let's not forget it was just a few years ago, everyone had that kid as our top prospect. He's still only 22. Or do you let Kawasaki start a few games in a row and see if he can get anything going?

If Triunfel gets called up, it probably means Kawasaki gets sent down, which is disappointing not because of his play, but because of his presence in the clubhouse, and the fact that he makes me laugh every time I see him on TV.

Yeah, I could see Triunfel coming up, really have no idea what they'll do though. Ryan is definitely on notice though if you've seen any of Wedge's recent comments.

Ryan should really be in a circus. He'd do much better there than he is on the M's team.

I guess Brendan Ryan spends all his time practicing that and his defense, and not his hitting.

It's hard to get a good read on this because one minute Wedge is saying he is sick of watching him then the next minute he is gushing over his defense my guess would be Kawasaki if he is replaced though.

I'm over it. Barring a trade, I could see Nick Franklin coming up as soon as next season. That, I think is their conundrum. They probably feel like they have a possible shortstop of the future, but he's not ready yet.
I would be surprised to see Triunfel this early due mostly to the fact that his productivity this year has been uncharacteristic. If he continues to play well, then maybe later in the summer. They don't really have a ton of options.

Kawasaki has struggled as well, but I wonder how much of that has to do with inconsistent playing time. Also, his at bats aren't nearly as infuriating as Ryan's. Watching Ryan hit is almost unbearable right now.
