About Wedge not being a good manager for this rebuilding process?

When Felix Hernandez publically calls him and his crew out for not doing a good job. Wedge is not on my craps list.

Wedge can be so annoying sometimes with his in game management, but that's always going to go along with losing. I remember that Lou Piniella's impatience with pitchers would drive me crazy because it seemed like he'd pull starters as soon as there was a hint of trouble and for the most part the bullpen was always pretty weak. Turns out the rotation usually sucked pretty bad too (outside of Randy), so I don't know how much I can blame him. Hopefully I'll look back on these days and say, well, his lineups didn't make a ton of sense sometimes but it's not like they were that much better in my ideal configuration. I think that's what he means when he says everyone "doesn't know $%*$"- Like there is some demonstrative difference in outcome if the lineup is different that he is ignoring. That it's costing the team. Sometimes I wonder (not seriously) if the line ups are just his passive aggresive reaction to the power vacuum on the team. Like, "Ok, you're going to give me these guys? Kyle Seager hits clean up. Chone Figgins comes off the bench and into the two hole. What the hell else am I supposed to do with this?"

I'm not very worried Wedge, just annoyed sometimes. I think if we weren't a basement talent MLB team, it would bug me more if we were on the bubble.

I have noticed one thing- I'm more pissed off this year and I think that's good... What I mean is, in the past, I've been so apathetic about the teams chances in any given game for the most part. The other team would score first and my mind would consider that an insurmountable lead. Now I feel like "We're better than that" after some stupid mistake costs us a game, when in the past it was "yeah, well they're the Mariners, so..." I've also been watching our pitchers more. In the past when the team has been really bad, I'd change the channel when anyone not Felix was pitching, and switch back when we were up. I'm seeing some small things that are good, a ton that is super aggravating... I've been yelling at the television again... I'm hoping that's a good sign.

I'm actually going the opposite way. I used to be so into the games, but now I expect them to lose and don't really get as mad. I just think to myself, "oh yeah....Mariners" and it lessens the anger. For too long I was hoping for the Carl Everetts, Jose Guillens, Ben Broussards, and Jose Vidros of the world to carry the M's to a world series. Then I learned better of myself what to expect.

At least now we have some young guys that actually have hope to be here in the future so I don't get AS mad as I once did. Do I still get mad when things go wrong? Fuck yeah I do, but my emotions toward Mariner baseball are slowly dwindling. I still love the team; but the losing is just beginning to become stale and I'm already apathetic into the second month of the season.

I still watch the games and hope for positive signs from the kids, though I wonder if any of them will actually be around in five years from now and if we'll still be any good then. It was just yesterday Yuni, Jose Lopez and Justin Leone were supposed to carry us to the promise land. Hoping that Ackley, Montero, Franklin, Seager and Smoak can not repeat that shit.

I'm as frustrated as you at the lack of success over the years, but guys like Yuni, Lopez, and Leone never had anywhere close to the kind of upside that guys like Ackley, Montero, Smoak, etc have. And please don't mention Yuni here anymore, he's the reason we picked Jeff Clement over Troy Tulowitzki (according to Troy himself).

PS, Jose Gullien played well in the one season he was here :D
