Because if you don't, that's when they'll start getting rad and then you'll look like a little bitch when you come back and try to act like you didn't tell everyone you weren't going to watch the second half.
However, if you do watch the second half you'll be almost assured that they'll be a sub-par team.
I call it, the Mariners Suckfest Paradox and I'm working on mathematically proving that it's a measurable phenomenon.

Yeah, besides seeing if the young guys can turn it around there's not a whole lot. Saunders, Wells, and Jaso have all been nice surprises, but everyone else (offensively) has been pretty disappointing.

Thank goodness, I thought I was the only one! Here's my analysis.
If you take the number of home runs Kevin Mitchell hit in 1992 (9), and add Mark Whiten's Mariners uniform number (20), and multiply that by the number of at bats we gave Jamie Bubela in 2005 (19), and then subtract the number of days since we resigned Josh Bard last year (551), and you get...0. Which is the number of reasons I've found so far to watch this team in the second half.

Awesome.
No, but seriously... Are we literally discussing not watching, or just lamenting? I mean, I understand they haven't been good since the year 7 BBE* and there are not any great "reasons" to watch them, but how many have there been the last few years? Of course there's no good reason to watch them. They're the Mariners. I still will though, and all kidding aside I don't really feel like I have a choice. I do, but I have chosen the path of pain. Are any of you giving up for realsies?

Because on average, they are going to win better than once in three tries. I'm a gambling man, 33% or better are good odds.

I'll be watching. Anything to get my mind off the train wreck of a city council we seem to have here.

Not to take this thread politically, but will you guys be voting against these council members that were against the Arena? I am a resident of Kent, not Seattle so my opinion is worthless.
I completely agree with you TITTDA.

I would, but my opinion is just as worthless (Shoreline resident)

Weird, I thought Shoreline was Seattle?

Weird, I thought Shoreline was Seattle?
Been it's own city since '95. A fairly pointless jurisdiction if I do say so myself.

I went to the grocery store and the lady asked me if I'd like paper for .05 or plastic for .10 per bag. I thought of you Joseph, and in my mind I said, "YOU DIRTY SON'S OF BITCHES!!!" (referring to the city council). I've decided that regardless of any party affiliation, I will vote against any member of the Seattle City Council that votes against the arena next year regardless of whether or not it passes. I will be encouraging others to do the same. In regards to the stupid bag thing, I will grudgingly drag my reusable shopping bags to the store like a god damn hippy. I hope they're all very happy in their Dungeon of Policy. Stupid assholes.
I'm glad you guys will be suffering through the second half with me.

Eh, certainly not to see a playoff run. Just another "Let's wait till next year" attitude towards it like usual.

We all need to get together and suffer at a game.

How long did it take you to add all that up?

I would be into that.

Ha! That was my first thought. Part of why it was so awesome.

I'm down for a meet up! As for why I'll be watching or if... I'm just one of those guys that enjoys baseball. Sure, I'd be a lot happier to see a half ass decent team out there, but I'll take it. I may start going to more Rainiers games, it'll be just like watching the Mariners, why drive to Seattle!?!? I am not expecting anything from this team, except maybe a shit ton more of 1-0 loses, in the 11th... it's getting old. Sigh.
Happy thoughts, happy thoughs...

I know someone that can make a giant sign of your face we could bring to the game.

It was basically, let me find some ridiculous numbers, and then find a number to fit that would have it all add up to zero.

One reason to watch the second half - data, data, data. The idealseat team is going to be there for another 41 to bring the experience to the fan in 2013.
Other then that I want to see the new pitchers and still hold my assertion that the pitching was worse then the hitting in the first half
