View Full Version : Would YOU Deal Felix to the O's for Dylan Bundy+2?

Hi all. Thanks for allowing me to post. :)

My name is Greg (shocker!) and as an Orioles fan and poster at an O's fansite, I proposed a trade this morning (and a poll to go with it) wherein we would trade Dylan Bundy plus any two minor-leaguers not named Manny Machado or Jonathan Schoop, for your Felix Hernandez.

The feeling -thus far- is no, we would not make that deal. So, I thought it would be fun to get a Mariners board's perspective.

What say you M's fans?

First of all, welcome Greg.

Secondly, you're welcome for Adam Jones.

Thirdly, that trade = probably not. But, let me clarify. I don't think either team would be willing to make that deal and that's why even though our offense has been so poor over the last few years, Felix is not really tradable- because what we would need in return, Dylan Bundy for instance, would not be available. Not only that, but we would need proven big league talent for him, I don't think he'll be dealt for a prospect package unless he's at the end of his deal and is not coming back. I don't think it would be a good move for the O's either, and I think they'd be better off aiming slightly lower and retaining that young talent.

If it were up to me, I'd want Bundy AND Machado (I'm a huge Machado fan, he's going to be a stud), which would be ridiculous for the O's to do, but besides that, for Bundy + prospects? He's one of the few aces in the game. Bundy sure looks like he will join him some day, but we can't afford to bank on "probably" when trading one of the best players we've ever had.

Thank you.

While we both agree that the odds of such a trade are quite minimal, the intent of such an exercise is determining what we fans would do, given such opportunity. I think that the M's have an excellent foundation of starting pitching, and merely four or five fielding/hitting positions where you'd be comfortable moving forward. So I would think that if the M's were to entertain moving Felix, it would be for a package of young hitters. So, in that, you're likely right that the M's would say no to the proposal I laid out earlier. I appreciate your reply and look forward to others thoughts as well.

First of all, we love to have people sporting other teams come and make discussion . Thanks for joining!

I agree that we wouldn't do the trade, although I do really like Dylan Bundy. Anyone who can throw a fastball at 100 and a cutter like that has good talent. I believe in ordert to trade Felix you would need to provide a player who has big league talent already in the books. Probably something more than a year, with 25-35 HR's, along with a blue chip prospect to get the ball rolling.

The other thing you'll have to remember out the Mariners is our fan attendance SUCKS right now. They front office is looking for the best way to get attendance, and trading Felix will hurt it considerably. No matter who it is for. Felix is the face of the Mariners, if not one of the biggest faces of Seattle. So that's just another reason why we'd need someone who has already been proven, and a big name.

Thank you kindly. Your points are well-thought and certainly make sense.

Felix is alway my #1 pick in a 5x5 roto league ad I have won the past two years and battling for a threepeat. He is rolling as he does in the second half and my team is making a run. Not sure bout the rest but I would alway trade for Felix unless it's for Adam jones of course ;)

Disregard that I thought you were talking fantasy baseball. I would want Felix in both fantasy and reality lol

Good points made already in this thread. The thing with the Mariners is, the strength of our system is the pitching, so if we were going to move Felix I'd want the main chip to be a big hitter, regardless of how talented Bundy may be.
