@JackCurryYES
The Yankees have acquired Ichiro Suzuki for RHPs DJ Mitchell and Danny Fahrquar, a source said.
I'm just.... I need a moment. I can't even.... Wow.

I literally can not process this right now. Apparently there are money issues to be worked out, and whatever. But, we're about to play them! I'm at work and I'm seriously freaking the fuck out right now.

Wish we could have waited until after this series to trade him.

Damn it. Just realized that means Smoak stays at the Major League level for now.

Yankees are only paying $2 million for the rest of the year, and the pitchers we got back are not any real prospects of note. This looks like the team granting his wish to go somewhere, letting him go somewhere he has a chance at a title at, and moving on from Ichiro simultaneously.
Man, those lip service "important part of our team" and "expect Ichiro to be back" comments are really interesting if he truly did go to management weeks ago telling them they could trade him if they want.
Wow.

I can't believe Ichiro will be in a Yankees' uniform tonight. Batting against the Mariners. At Safeco Field. Mind fucking blown.

I like it. Now we won't be resigning him no matter what. It also means ownership let him go.

I think I like it too. It's just hard because even though I lamented almost everything about him for the last two years, I'll never forget the surge of adrenalin I used to feel when he would come to the plate early in his career. I always had this, "oh shit! pitch to THIS!" attitude and the feeling that anything could happen. When he won the AL MVP and ROY the same year, broke Sisler's record, walked off homer off Mariano Rivera, stealing homers... He was such a source of pride for me for so long, so it's a weird feeling of happiness that I don't have to see him struggle, and feel angry at a former hero, and that we're moving on and doing the right thing for the franchise, mixed with sadness.
I'd just like to say that for as much as he struggled and was overpaid at the end of his contract, the man deserves our respect and he will go down as one of the best players in the history of this franchise.
It was fun for a long time. Thanks for the good memories Ichiro!

This is setting in. This is good. It opens right field up for a power hitter (PLEASE!).

Ichiro is apparently tearing up at the press conference announcing his trade. Jack Z is not there. Lincoln is speaking, I can't listen to it and will have to watch later at home... Crazy.

I'm going from the team with the most losses to the team with the most wins. It's hard to contain my excitement.
Uh... Ok, let's not go overboard dude.

Jack Z is apparently in the room they're having the press conference in, but is not announcing the trade. Hard to see how that is not significant.

Fuck her. It's a foot. This is Ichiro.
Problem solved. I'm bringing her, dropping her off at the stadium before parking. This is going to be surreal.

The Ichiro era in Seattle has finally come to an end, it was a time when we had the best player in the MLB, but we also fielded some of the worst teams too. Ichiro was fun to watch and a great player, but it's time to move on to the next era of Mariners baseball and I hope it's filled with better memories!

Today is my birthday and this happens. Pretty sad, i grew up watching ichiro for those 11 years. Im now 21 and i can say it was fun watching him. One of my favorite moments was the walk off home run against rivera a few years ago.
Cya ichiro.

Had some fun times, but it was time to move on. Sucks that he couldn't retire here but at least now we don't have the distraction of re-signing him or not to deal with. Good luck Ichiro.

My son is ten. As far as he is concerned, Ichiro had quite literally always been a Mariner.
It's going to be very strange, hoping for the rest of the season that Ichiro gets his WS championship while simultaneously hoping that the Yankees don't get theirs.
