I wait for WEEKS for legitimate nationally respected baseball writers to discuss any feasible trade discussions about the Mariners because they're the damn KGB of front offices, and almost all information comes 3rd or 4th hand by the way of other team's front office leaks, and the day they start talking about a trade and the Mariners interest in bats like Allen Craig and Josh Willingham I'm stuck at my second consecutive day at the Pacific Northwest Highland Games (We camped there) with my girlfriend's dying cell phone (mine died Friday night) and the neverending "squeedily-deedily-deedily-dee" of bagpipes. This morning was tough.

Ok, that being said. I can't possibly see another Brandon for Brandon trade straight up. The Giants would be insane to trade Belt for two months of Brandon League. There would have to be another piece or two involved. Interesting thought though.

Possibly non-related side note- after Dave Cameron tweeted that he'd been told the M's were trying hard for Belt, he was pulled from the lineup. Could be nothing. Could be something.

I don't know who keeps spreading that rumor, but he wasn't pulled from the lineup. He played the whole game and went 1 for 3.

The rumor regarding the Giants/Mariners for League, and I emphasize RUMOR, with no substantiated data that I can find besides a San Francisco based reporter supposedly (also emphasizing "supposedly") being the source is:

Brandon League and Justin Smoak for Brandon Belt.

Probably just a fart in the wind, but putting it up for "food for thought".

I am not sure that I would trade both League and Smoak for Belt straight up. Belt is batting all of .236 this year. I would want SF to add in a mid level prospect with Belt.
