Write me down... I'm pretty sure Mr. Mike Sweeney is going to make the club. The problem will be fitting him into the roster. Who do you replace?

Eric Byrnes perhaps? Thoughts?

I don't really care who goes, I just know that we need someone who is hitting .600 for spring ON this team.

There is no doubt Sweeney is tearing it up and at this point deserves a look to be on the team. However, you have to think that his injury prone back and mediocre numbers last year might keep him off the team in return for Ryan Garko.

In my opinion there is no way we keep Garko and Sweeney, and in my mind, Garko offers more upside to us than an injury-prone Sweeney.

At the same time, I wouldn't be mad at all if Sweeney were kept because we sure could use a bat like him in our soft lineup. One thing is for sure...Wak and Z have some tough decisions on their plate.

I'm not exactly sure what got into Sweeney, but from what I've been hearing from those who have been attending Spring Training games... it sounds like Sweeney has regained his 2005 form, at least as far as being fit.

Yeah, the back problems could hurt Sweeney in the final decisions but at the same time, compare the spring training numbers:

Ryan Garko: .194 Average
Mike Sweeney: .609 Average

Who do you take right now? I'd say Mike Sweeney pretty easily if this keeps up. BTW, thanks for joining!!!

Yeah, I have no problem keeping Sweeney if he can stay healthy, but can he? Of course he is going to say he's in the best shape he's ever been in because if he wasn't there would be no way he could make the team.

Right now, I'd love to have Sweeney on the team, but you have to also factor in the facts that Garko is already on the 40-man roster while Sweeney is not. Plus we signed Garko to a deal worth around a million dollars if I remember correctly which means we'd be cutting all that money for nothing.

With that said, I agree with you. If Sweeney can keep this up, there is no way Wak keeps him off this team.

I've been a HUGE Sweeney fan even from his days in Kansas City so I am bloody biased on this topic though lol.
