No surprise as the M's decline Olivo's option, not a big surprise too that they let go Kawasaki... Does letting Olivo go make Montero and Jaso or top 2 catchers ? Are they still looking for another veteran C ? I don't see them counting on Zunino this early...
Kawasaki probably gone, any idea on who's gonna be our next utility player ? Looking in the system or trade/FA ? That probably makes B. RYAN our SS (if they were still suspens...).
Milwood, Perez, Iwakuma, Sherill = FA. Iwakuma is I think a player to retain, maybe Perez.
Any opinion about those moves ?

Love the finality of the inevitable Miguel Olivo release. You knew he was gone, but it just feels so good now that it's for real.
Zunino is not ready, for sure. I've felt since about mid season last year like they need to stop platooning Jaso so hard. I'd like to see him getting the majority of the playing time behind the plate. I think Montero is a serviceable backup, but will probably play more DH. I think they'll bring in another catcher, but not a game changer.
I'll miss Kawasaki's antics for sure, but not his bat. We need another middle infielder. My heart says Franklin can handle the utility job, but I'm not sure the M's are ready. We'll see what they do, another possible FA landing spot.
I agree on Iwakuma. I think they need to bring that guy back.

The biggest loss here is Kawasaki's attitude. Olivo is a bum. There's no way IMO that Zunino will be ready earlier than midseason of next year. You can only rush a guy so much. Personally, I feel like splitting Jaso and Montero's catchers duty is just fine. I don't want a third C.

The 3rd C depend on the playing time at both C and DH, are JASO and MONTERO supposed to be played together in the lineup ? As I'm not a big fan of 3 C neither, I'd like JASO to hit lefties and play more than last year, I've no problem with MONTERO catching to as we need his bat... If both play, 3rd C is gonna happen.

I agree, I'm not big on a catcher that they plan to platoon with Jaso, although depending on his bat I could be persuaded. They just need another backup catcher because organizational depth sucks. Someone in the Quiroz/Bard vein.
