Hi,

I'm an Englishmen and have been living in the British Columbia interior for about 2 years, so now I am able to go and watch live Baseball games in Seattle which is fantastic for me. Went to a couple of games last season, and will manage about a game a month this season.

I am also a Sounders fan which means I am able get my fix of Football(Soccer) as well since crossing the pond!.

Cheers

Patrick.

Welcome to the forum Patrick (sorry I missed this thread earlier!). That is wonderful to have another UKer on the forum.

If I may ask, is there a reason why the Mariners are popular in the UK? Seems like we get alot of UK traffic too.

Welcome aboard. Also we are trying to get a gameday chat going at the top of the page when the games are playing so drop by if you get time to chat a bit.

The only reason I can think of is due to a new national TV Channel starting in the UK in 1997, it showed a couple of Baseball games a week during the night, prior to that there was no Baseball at all on TV. So I suppose any teams playing well that season were shown on TV and managed to pick up some fans, thats how I started to follow the Mariners.

Unfortunately Baseball has little to no coverage in the UK on TV or in the media, there was only one subscription channel that shows any Baseball when I left England, on TV its all Cricket, Rugby, Football, Formula 1 and some of our minor sports.

So as you can imagine, it's great for me to have all this Baseball now, I have a lot of catching up to do!!

Ah yes. Too bad you were not a fan during 1995, that was the classic Mariner year, along with 2001. It is also really cool that you are so close to Washington now. How cool.
