Do you guys see any more trades by the Mariners being made in the next few days? We don't have any great trading chips, but a lot of decent ones.
I doubt we will see anything done because I don't see any team willing to give up any good prospects for our playets. Though the most likely deal if one were to get done seems like Jose Lopez. He probably won't be back next year and can offer great versatility to a team in need of a 2nd baseman or a 3rd baseman.
Why not just go ahead and trade him now in a lost season? Even if we don't get much in return, we still get something. Something that we wouldn't get if we just let him walk at the end of the year.

Why the Mariners could still move David Aardsma in next 48 hours
Posted by Geoff Baker
Wrote a blog post last week stating that GM Jack Zduriencik would need to have his socks knocked off in order to move David Aardsma. And that the Mariners were unlikely to trade Aardsma or Brandon League by the July 31 deadline, simply because they would be hard-pressed to hold any lead between now and the end of the season.
The same holds true. I don't think Zduriencik will move Aardsma simply because he earns $2.75 million and will start moving up into expensive territory next year. We saw the rumor yesterday that the Giants asked for Aardsma and were told they could have him if they took Jose Lopez as well and gave up Pablo Sandoval, 23, a corner infielder/catcher who would undoubtedly become their third baseman the rest of this year and maybe next depending on what happens with Chone Figgins.
That would leave Zduriencik sockless, no doubt.

But if were to deal him and Jose Lopez for Pablo Sandoval, I'd be doing backflips.

Me too, but I don't see that happening. NO way they'll give their future for a so-so reliever and a crappy 3rd baseman.

True, but you always make that offer, because sooner or later, there will be a GM out there stupid enough to make a deal like that.

Exactly! I'm reading all these idiots on forums talking about how Jack will burn bridges by insulting teams with unreasonable offers. That is utterly stupid. These guys aren't idiots, but they make "stupid" moves to fill needs when desperate (or, delusional). It doesn't hurt to ask. Aardsma and Lopez for Sandoval would have been amazing. I'll actually be kinda shocked to see League or Aardsma traded just because Jack is asking for the moon for those guys from everything I've read. He doesn't NEED to trade either, and if he's smart he sits back and waits to be blown away. I think people are talking about them moving because now that Lee is gone, they're about the only trade-able pieces with any value. I've read that Jack wants players that can help long term for either. We'll see, but I wouldn't be surprised for this weekend to pass with both guys still on the roster.
