Taijuan Walker, the Mariners’ top pick in the June draft, hasn’t pitched since July 15 with the rookie-level Peoria Mariners because of some tenderness in his right arm. Grifol said Walker is OK now, throwing bullpens and working on the side in Peoria.

Closer David Aardsma has allowed one earned run in his past 10 outings and is 5-for-5 in save opportunities since July 11.
When Chone Figgins stole his 30th base on Sunday, he became the only player in the majors with at least 30 steals in each of his past seven seasons. Since 2004, he has averaged 42 steals.

In reference to starting a 6 run implosion:
Chone Figgins: "I should have made the play. The ball took a hop on me. But I should have made that play."

Shawn Kelley will undergo exploratory surgery later this month, but not until he and wife Kelsey undergo another hospital procedure – the birth of their first child, due within two weeks.
Kelley, 26, has been on the disabled list since June 25 and hasn’t pitched since June 16 because of a tender right elbow.
“I’m either going to have minor surgery and be ready for spring training or Tommy John surgery and miss the next year,” Kelley said.
But first, the baby.
“My wife’s due any time, and I’ll fly home (to Kentucky) Wednesday to be with her, drive her to the hospital when it’s time, be with her for the birth of our son,” Kelley said. “If there’s anything good about the situation I’m in, I guess it’s that two weeks right now won’t change my status with the surgery.”

Amazingly, Felix Hernandez has replicated his 2009 Cy-caliber performance from a year ago, and then some. Better BB rates.
