Major League Baseball commisioner Bud Selig is considering expanding the MLB postseason by a couple of teams or at the least the first round to seven games.

Thoughts?

One side of me doesn't want to dilute the accomplishment of making the playoffs, while the other side of me sees the power of the AL West, and thinks that playoff expansion would be the only way that we'd ever make the postseason.

Nah, this can't happen. Can a history buff tell me exactly how long MLB has operated the way it is currently set up, teams and all? Wild Card was introduced in 1994, and I'm not sure I even like that. Has there been any change since 94? No reason to include even more teams than already allowed. This isn't MLS!!!

I'm with the expansion crowd. It seems like the majority of the same teams make it almost every year (Yankees, Twins, Phillies, Red Sox, Cardinals) except this year, which yes, does make it very magical for those teams every NOW and THEN. However, most of the time, it's the same powerhouses in the AL and NL Championship series. Like the article said, I think expanding each league's playoff by a team or two would give more baseball cities hope (like us) and would widen the chances of success for all teams.

In my opinion, the NFL (6 teams per league) has it perfect. While the NBA and NHL have too many teams (8 teams per league). Based on the success the NFL has had over the last few decades, I think MLB would be wise to take note of their tactics...

amazingly, I actually agree with Geoff Baker. I like the thought of the extra games before the world series, just not adding more teams.
