Just thought i would post & say hi to everyone on here, i live in Melbourne, Australia.

I have just recently started getting into baseball, after not really caring about the sport during my 26 years on this earth. We have recently had our very on league here in Australia start up again, which has increased my interest in the game locally & now i am interested in watching the MLB over here on TV.

Me & family are hoping of moving to British Columbia in Canada sometime in 2012, so i was looking for a team that was pretty close to that area, which i could travel down to on occasions, to watch games.

Seattle seemed the perfect choice :D

Anyway, enough of me talking, great to be here.

Welcome to the site my friend! You're the first from Melbourne here. Gotta ask, were you ever a fan of Aussie Ryan Rowland-Smith? He was a fan favorite here, unfortunately he left this off season because of bad performances.

I had heard of him before, but never payed close attention to him.

I am pretty much a newbie to baseball, which is why i joined this forum, to try and get more educated on it.

Greetings a_mac!

Nice to have some international perspective. Vancouver is pretty close to Safeco. About a 3 1/2 hour drive from downtown Vancouver to here. It's cool that you decided to take up a sport. That can be tough. I've been trying to get into hockey for years because almost none of my friends care about baseball, but a bunch of them watch and play hockey. My problem is that I've invested so much time studying and hyper-focusing on baseball, American football, and college basketball and football, that I don't really have a lot of room left in my mind! Vancouver has a hockey team, and Seattle also has an extremely popular "real" football (soccer) team.

Take it easy, and stick around!

Cheers, i like the look of the forum already.

I do follow hockey, have supported the Calgary Flames for a while now & i also follow some other sports as well. Football (soccer) i follow my local club Melbourne Victory FC, and in Australian Rules Football i support the Western Bulldogs, who i am pretty passionate about. Basketball is a weird one for me, because the league in Australian has been up & down for a while now, my original team no longer exists, so i don't follow a basketball team over here. During the 90s as a kid i got hooked on MJ and the Bulls, so i have always been a fan of the Bulls & still am to this day.

Then baseball has come into my life, especially with the new Australian league up & running, but as you have said, there isn't much room left in the mind for other sports, the Mariners have just about taken up the last spot.

The closeness between Vancouver & Seattle was a primary reason for picking the Mariners.
