Just stumbled across this board from the USS Mariner site. I've been a mariners fan for as long as I can remember, heck my first memories are of taking the ferry over from Bremerton and making that nice hike to the Kingdome.
Anyway, I've had to spend most of my life as a Mariner's fan in hostile territory. Being my folks were military, I got to see the early years of the Griffey, Buhner and Martinez power trio but had to settle for watching the 95 ALDS in Virginia Beach, which is serious Yankee territory. I watched in dismay the 2001 run fall apart from Saudi Arabia. But I've never given up hope that one year, we will make it all the way.
I currently live in Nebraska and usually have to settle for watching the M's when they come to Kansas City (which the last several years has been almost like watching a Mariners exhibition game considering it seems like half of the Royals roster used to play for Seattle at some point). But this year I've convinced the wife to take a vacation to Seattle so we can catch some Mariner games at home. Which will be nice, considering I've never had the chance to catch a game at Safeco.
Anyway, hope to get to know you guys more and looking forward to talking about the Mariners.
