Default If you could take either Felix Hernandez or Zach Zack Greinke, which would it be....

Say you could choose between Zach Greinke or Felix Hernandez and they both were the same price and both would sign for the same number of years... which would you pick and why?

I think this is an interesting question because Greinke and Felix are both similar pitchers. Similar age, similar ERA, similar strikeouts... etc.

I would take Felix Hernandez (and no, it has nothing to do with him being a Mariner). Why? Because he has been increasing in command year by year and Greinke has been off and on throughout his entire career until 2009. I also think Felix's build is better and that Greinke has a greater chance of an injury, although there is nothing here that I can prove.

    Your thoughts?

i would take zach greinke... he's been on the kansas city team of death and still puts up good numbers. imagine what he would look like should he be on a team like the yankees, red sox or even mariners. dont get me wrong, felix is a beast. i just think greinke has a better control.

another similarity that you didnt mention is they both have hit home runs off of pitchers.

At this point I would take Felix. He has consistently gotten better each year like Joseph said. Greinke struggled badly his first couple of years and finally had a breakout year in '09. Whos to say he won't regress again. Now if Greinke puts up another year like last year then I'd probably take him over Felix, but you can't go wrong with either one.

I would take Felix for mostly the same reason that Igoe4Mariners has.

one thing i failed to look at is the fact that greinke is over 2 years old that felix. that means that felix has 2 more years to get better than greinke which i do believe is very possible. i'm starting to agree that i should take felix over greinke.

What about Lincecum? Would anyone take him over Felix and Greinke?
