Default Jack Z's future with the mariners

Interesting chat that Dave Cameron was having today. Many many questions about Jack's future. Dave says that there is a lot of concern that Jack Z may not be back for another year with the Mariners. When asked what he would think of Z not returning he quoted:
It would be a setback for the organization, certainly. But if Jack gets fired, I won't feel too bad for him. They handled the Lueke thing about as poorly as possible.
What?? The Lueke thing is deserving of him getting fired? No way.

I'm still having a really tough time trying to figure out what the big deal is here. I mean, I understand what everyone's saying... It was sloppy. It was mismanagement. It was embarrassing, I guess, but can the GM in the middle of a rebuild for it? That would be so much dumber to me. I mean, fire the guy for doing a crappy job at constructing a baseball team, not being shady about a sex scandal. If the powers that be think he's doing a poor job rebuilding the baseball team, then ok, that's a matter of interpretation and if you look at the team's record this year, I can see how one might interpret it as a poor job. I personally think he's smart, has smart people around him, but just fumbled the ball on this Lueke deal. I think firing him now and bringing in some new guy who's going to dump all the guys Jack brought in, drafted, and traded for that don't fit his plan... That's just going to make this so much worse. There is such a thing as worse than this, believe it or not. I would be disappointed if they canned him because the 3-5 year plan would automatically becomea 7-10 year plan, but I could deal with it if the reason was they wanted to win right now and Jack failed to do the impossible. If the reason is the Lueke trade, I'm going to be really, really pissed. I've layed off Armstrong and Lincoln up to this point pretty well, this would change that. Torch and Pitch fork time.

Just another mistake by Chuck and Howie if he does get fired. They should be driven out of town in my opinion if this happens.

    Ken Rosenthal via twitter today:

#Mariners president Chuck Armstrong: "We are not thinking about changing the general manager at all." Story on FOXSports.com soon.

The dreaded "Vote of Confidence"! As in "Don is our manager".
I've heard rumor that the Mariners had contacted several GM candidates for the Diamondbacks to let them know not to sign because they may want to offer them a position... Think what you will I guess.
