    Default Humbled by umpire school

    http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/column...e=MLBHeadlines

I don't know if any of you guys saw this on ESPN's page the other day, but I found it really interesting with a little funny thrown in.

I had no idea umpire school was so cheap! I think it would be a blast to go just for fun.

I know just this article is going to make me watch the umps more, I already caught myself checking out the arm posture of an ump calling someone out while I was just watching a highlight reel!

Thanks for sharing that! Interesting odds shared. Odds are 1 out of 150 that a person attending that will make it to umpire school.
the best ones will be offered a job at rookie ball this year, earning roughly $60 per game.
Ouch, tough job for $60 a game.

Yeah, no kidding. I've often wondered if being Refs and Umps ruins the sport. I mean if your job is to watch certain things, could you ever just sit there and enjoy a game? It might be easier for Umps then Football and Basketball refs.

Umpiring is also a tough job mentally. Jim Joyce will never be the same after the botched perfect game. They interviewed his wife about it and said he's not been the same since that call.
